졸업식에서 잭의 연설문

 

I don’t have very much time these days, so I’ll make it quick, like my life.

요즘엔 시간이 많이 없으니 짧게 할게요, 내 인생처럼요.

You know, as we come to the end of this phase of our life,

우리가 인생에서 한 시기의 끝에 다다르면요,

we find ourselves trying to remember the good times and trying to forget the bad times.

우리는 좋았던 시간은 기억하고, 나쁜 기억은 지우려고 애쓰죠.

And we find ourselves thinking about the future and start to worry,

그리고 우리는 미래를 생각하며 걱정하는 우리를 발견하죠.

thinking “What am I gonna do?” “Where am I gonna be in 10 years?”.

"난 뭘하지?" "10년 뒤엔 뭐가 될까?" 이런 생각을 하면서 말이에요.

But I say to you, “Hey, look at me.”

하지만 이렇게 말해주고 싶네요, "날 봐요."

Please, don’t worry too much. ‘Cause in the end, none of us have very long on this earth.

너무 크게 걱정하지 말아요. 어차피, 우리 모두 지구에 오래 붙어 있지는 않을테니까요.

Life is fleeting.

인생은 아주 빨리 지나간다구요.

And if you’re ever distressed, cast your eyes to the summer sky.

너무 힘이 들 땐, 여름 하늘을 올려다 보세요.

When the stars are strung across the velvety night,

별들이 벨벳처럼 부드러운 밤하늘에 걸려있고,

and when a shooting star streaks through the blackness turning night into day,

별똥별이 칠흙같은 어둠을 가르며 밤하늘을 낮처럼 환하게 만들 때,

make a wish, and think of me.

소원을 빌어요, 그리고 나를 생각해요.

And make your life spectacular.

그리고 당신의 삶을 아주 멋지게 만들어봐요!

I know I did. I made it mom. I am a grownup.
